Job Description

As a Recreation Specialist, you will be responsible for developing, organizing, and leading recreational activities and programs that meet the interests and needs of our clients. This role requires creativity, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting seniors’ engagement in their daily lives, both in group settings and one-on-one interactions.
What a Typical Day Will Look Like
- Design and implement engaging recreational programs for seniors, including arts and crafts, fitness activities, games, social outings, and more.
- Assess client needs and preferences to create tailored activities that support physical, cognitive, and emotional well-being.
- Facilitate group activities and ensure all clients are included, encouraged, and supported in participation.
- Coordinate with care teams to ensure activities align with clients’ individual care plans and needs.
- Encourage socialization and positive interactions between clients to promote a sense of community and belonging.
- Document and track participation and progress in recreational activities.
- Provide one-on-one support for clients who may have mobility, cognitive, or social challenges.
- Assist in planning and facilitating special events and celebrations for clients, including holidays, birthdays, and other milestones.
- Be part of a rotating on-call system to ensure continuous support for clients.

- Successful facilitation of group activities, events, and one-on-one support for clients.
- Effective documentation and tracking of clients’ engagement and progress in recreational programs.
Qualifications
- Degree or certification in Recreation Therapy, Therapeutic Recreation, or a related field (preferred).
- At least 1-2 years of experience working with seniors or individuals with health challenges, ideally in a recreational or therapeutic setting.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage and motivate diverse client groups.
- Creative, proactive, and empathetic approach to planning and facilitating activities.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Must have reliable transportation for travel as we serve clients in various counties.
- Ability to drive as needed for client-related tasks, including transport to and from recreational activities.
